6 months

Six months ago I became a Mother Tucker. Happy six month birthday to my little man! This also means I've been breastfeeding around the clock for half a year. Go me!

I took Noah to his pediatrician appointment this morning and he weighs 20 lbs 14 oz (96th percentile) and is 28 inches long (92nd percentile). Big boy!! He got two vaccines - DTaP and Rotavirus. Only cried for a few seconds. The pedi said he's perfect. But we already knew that.

Tried to take his picture this morning and this is what I got:

LOL. He cracks me up. Today he also used a spoon by himself for the first time. Ate a little avocado. Wasn't too sure about it:

And I gave him a liquid vitamin (Poly-vi-sol) which did NOT agree with him. He barfed more than ever before. Looked like gallons. Poor baby. Won't be giving him that again. Ordered some Carlson's Vitamin D drops which are supposed to be tasteless.

Oh, and I started reading about Elimination Communication. Just ordered a baby potty tonight. I'm actually excited about trying it. Maybe I'm nuts.

Fun day

I wasn't gonna do it. I was going to stop getting high lights and let my hair grow out. You know, in order to save money. The thing is, though...I kinda suck at saving money. And my natural hair color is so drab. Well my mom offered to get me high lights as an early birthday present :) So today Noah and I spent the afternoon in the salon with my mom and awesome hair stylist, Diana. Noah was in such a great mood! Think he likes all the commotion and listening to the hair dryers, lol.

For dinner we went to il bacio off Sidney Marcus Blvd. Had margherita pizza and a delicious spinach salad that had almonds, shrimp, asparagus, avocado, and a raspberry vinaigrette. Noah got to try avocado for the first time and he loved it! He kept complaining for more. Watching him "chew" it was hilarious. Love this chunkin'.

Also, can you tell eating is my favorite hobby? I seem to talk about food in most posts...

Ready for summer

My mom bought Noah his first bathing suit. OMG the cuteness:

Now if only the damn winter would go away. The weather today is yucky and we've been in the house alllllll day. I've managed to do dishes, wash diapers, shower, eat, change Noah's outfit, and go through some of his old clothes. He's outgrown the majority of his wardrobe. Gonna wait to see if our next babe is a boy before selling any of it.

I'm back on the couch now with a nursing/napping Noah. Gonna do some reading. Finally finished The Birth Partner and The Nurturing Touch at Birth. Read about five paragraphs at a time so it took forever!

Pork and dreams

I had some seriously weird ass dreams last night. One involved an injured half dog half racoon type thing that ate my leftover honey baked ham and ruined a bunch of electronics in our basement (which we don't have). I didn't take any drugs and I know I'm not pregnant....as Debra said it must have been that spoon I licked while baking brownies.

Well anyhow, this morning I got out of bed and Noah didn't wake up. He slept for 30 minutes BY HIMSELF. That is huge!!! Then we got ready and met my mom at the chiropractor.

Afterward I was starving. It seems a brownie and cranberry juice do not make for a very satisfying breakfast. My mom wanted to try a new BBQ place near her condo in Decatur so off we went. Um, YUM! Community BBQ is delicious. We both had pulled pork sammiches and I got some brunswick stew and potato salad on the side. Noah had his first (very tiny) bite of meat and he actually ate it.

Later we checked out a kid's consignment store and went to Target. I was looking for 12 mo footie pajamas but they didn't have any. :( Looks like I'll be hitting up the Carter's outlet at Discover Mills sometime soon. His 9 mo jammies pop open now they're so tight!

Save a penis

Just made a little donation to help save a penis! I'm a HUGE fan of Peaceful Parenting.

"Today is our opportunity to help make a difference! Danelle from the Peaceful Parenting blog is doing something that will change the lives of parents and baby boys! She has put together informational packets with pamphlets and a DVD that will educate parents about circumcision. She offers them to anyone who asks, even if they are unable to cover the $10+ that it costs her to put together and send out. She has already seen great success with parents thanking her for the information and choosing to keep their sons intact. This information is SO valuable to parents that need to know the truth about circumcision BEFORE they make a decision that can't be taken back. This information could save a precious baby boy's penis from being severely altered without his consent, AND his parents' hearts from the agony of realizing they've done something so wrong when it is too late. YOU can help this information get into more hands!"

Breast milk does a body good

Check out his legs at one month and 5.5 months....

Diaper cakes

They're so much fun to make. And fairly easy, too. I just watched a tutorial on YouTube and went for it.

Made for Leslie and baby Jake

Made for Natasha and baby Eliana

I used Pampers Swaddlers for these. Need to try making one for a cloth diapering mama.

February, you suck

Brian and I both came down with colds. Within like the same hour. WTF...I hate you, February!!! We both had colds last February, too :-( At least this time I don't have morning sickness on top of it. Ugh. Last night sucked. We were both exhausted, couldn't breathe, had snot dripping everywhere and of course Noah decided it was a good time to practice his screams. He wasn't even upset, just trying out different types of screams. And they were LOUD. But then he got cranky which is his normal bedtime behavior. Instead of latching on and falling asleep quickly he was thrashing around, turning his head from side to side, ripping off the boob, and kicking/kneeing the ever living crap out of me. It was not a good time.

He must have felt bad for trying to kill me because today he's been an angel. I feel like poo but he's been in a great mood. Thank God he didn't catch this crap. Knock on wood. We took a bath together and had some fun play time on the floor earlier. Now he's napping in my lap and I'm waiting on Brian to get home. He's bringing home Sudafed and Chick-fil-A chicken salad. Poor guy had to go to work while sick AND go to the store since I never left the house.

On the bright side there's only 29 more days until Spring and the high on Sunday is supposed to be in the low 60s. Hallelujah!

Oh, and I ordered these cause they're adorable.

Curry and a cut

I set the alarm for 9:15 this morning so we could make it to our 11:30 lunch date with my friend, Liz. Wouldn't you know, we overslept. I got out of bed at 10 and Noah stirred a bit but didn't actually wake up. I came downstairs and putzed around for a few minutes fully expecting to hear him scream at any moment. Nope. Went back into the bedroom and there he was, just a'snoozin. WTF?! That was definitely a first. But then two seconds later Brian called and unfortunately I had left my phone on the night stand. Noah's eyes flew open. Oh well...

Liz recommended we meet at a restaurant called Mai Thai in Tucker. We both grew up in Tucker and I actually introduced her to her hubby! I was a bridesmaid in their wedding back in May '08. We hadn't seen each other since then! How sad. Anyhow, I ordered Massaman Curry and holy moly was it delicious. I ate every damn bite. And Noah was great. He sat in a high chair for a while, ate a couple bites of banana, drank out of his sippy cup, and flashed some big smiles to other diners. He also got to eat his lunch...a big boobie full of milk. Yum!

After lunch we headed out to Roswell to meet China at Sarah's salon. Five minutes after arriving Noah pooped. And I didn't have any wipes with me. Poor guy...I used a wet paper towel. Mommy fail. But we had fun...lots of girl talk and now China and I have some cuter hairs! Didn't get my highlights touched up cause I'm trying to save money. Everyone who walked by the salon stuck their head in and commented on Noah's adorableness. I nursed him while Sarah was blow drying my hair which put him to sleep immediately :)

I love days like this...Noah is usually in a great mood due to the new sights and I'm not stuck in the house going insane! He's currently napping in my lap and keeps smiling. So so cute.

Dinner Fail

Tonight for dinner we ate McDonald's. On the couch. In front of the TV. And I enjoyed every second of it.

Mommyville

I meant to start posting here, oh, six months ago. But dude...having a baby is hard work and takes up a lot of time (who knew?) and it doesn't help that I'm lazy. Anyway, I'm going to use this blog to post about the every day happenings in stay-at-home-mommyville.

Today Noah is 25 weeks old. And so freaking adorable. Just look:

Sure, he's so tall that his pants are a bit (ok, a lot) high-water'ish but his shirt says '01 with the ladies' and clearly clothes don't lie.

During his first three months of life this child didn't know how to do anything but scream. Luckily he smiles now but he's still a huge fan of the screaming. Earlier today I told him he was going to send me to a mental institution. It's never good when your child makes you feel homicidal. Thank goodness for boobs! They almost always calm him down.

Here's what today looked like:

10:45 - wake up to a baby moving around (yes, we sleep LATE and it's awesome. YAY for bed sharing!)
11:00 - diaper change. The thing literally weighed 3 lbs.
11:05 - throw on some laundry. weigh myself. 140 lbs. 2 lbs under my pre-preggo weight. score.
11:10 - drink my morning Hydro-C so it doesn't feel like I'm passing fire balls wrapped in barbed wire when I poop (anal fissures are cruel bastards)
11:15 - Noah goes crazy in the jumperoo while I check my email/facebook
12:00 - do the dishes while Noah chills in his Bumbo and plays with the bread bag. Make a ham and turkey sandwich with spicy mustard and avocado...veggie straws and banana on the side.
12:20 - get Noah settled on the Boppy and he nurses while I eat
1:00 - shower
1:30 - Noah protests my getting ready and SCREAMS while I blow dry my hair
1:35 - give up on getting ready and change his diaper...more screaming
1:40 - nurse bebe to sleep and screw around online while watching A Baby Story. C-section as usual. Hate this show...why do I always watch?
2:30 - let Noah play on nursery floor while I deal with more laundry.
2:40 - play with the bubs and try to clean up the nursery at the same time. Looked like a tornado came through.
3:30 - decided I'd try to wear Noah in the Moby and go for a walk. But the wind is horrible. Said screw it.
4:00 - babe wants to nurse again. He falls asleep on me. I decide to update blogs.
5:30 - Noah is still asleep on me (with his hand on my boob...so cute) and we never made it out of the house. Need groceries but oh well!

So, there you have it. A typical day if we don't leave the house. I can't wait until the weather warms up! We're gonna be outside A LOT!
